Say Cheese!

Let me start by saying this is no easy mac. It takes a little bit longer to cook, and it’s about three-hundred-and-fifty percent better tasting. True story.


  • 1 Cup Pasta of your choice
  • Cheeeeeeeeeese (I like lots)
  • 1 Tablespoon-ish Milk (I don’t really measure.)
  • Another Tablespoon-ish Butter
  • Salt and Pepper

Put pasta in a microwave-safe bowl. Yeah, I have a ghetto bowl whose poor handle broke off in a freak dishwasher accident. So what. Next, add water so the pasta is just barely covered.

Put the bowl of pasta in another shallow microwave-dish. This will catch the water when it boils over. It probably will boil over, not a big deal.

Microwave for the specified amount of time in the pasta directions on medium power. If there’s a range of time, microwave it for the lowest amount of time possible. Then check it, and if it’s not done, microwave it in one-minute increments until the pasta is al dente.

Strain the pasta. I use the same shallow dish the water boils over into as my strainer. You could call me lazy.

Add milk, butter and cheese. Then, stir it up til the cheese is nice and melty. You might have to pop ‘er back in the microwave for 30 seconds to a minute to melt the cheese all the way. Add salt and pepper to taste…aaaaand, that’s it!

What’s that? Oh, just a little bowl of awesome.
